**Short answer:** Murata's product page lists LQH3NPN100NG0# (L = 180 mm reel, K = 330 mm reel) as **discontinued**: last-time order 3/31/2018, end of production 9/30/2018. Murata names **LQH3NPN100MJR#** as the alternative product. Coilcraft XFL3012-103ME and Bourns SRN3015-100M are other 10 µH, 3 × 3 mm parts worth a look. None of the three is the same part. Each beats the original on current and DCR but is taller, and the test definitions differ. Treat all three as **candidates to verify** in your circuit, not drop-ins.
Step 1: write down the original's numbers and their definitions
From Murata's product page for LQH3NPN100NG0#:
| Parameter | LQH3NPN100NG0L | Definition (Murata) |
|---|---|---|
| Inductance | 10 µH ±30 % | Test frequency 1 MHz |
| Rated current, L change (Isat) | 500 mA max | Inductance within ±30 % of nominal |
| Rated current, temperature rise | 630 mA max | Self-heating rise limited to 40 °C max |
| DCR | 0.57 Ω ±20 % (0.684 Ω max) | — |
| SRF | 45 MHz min | — |
| Operating temperature | −40 to 85 °C | Self-temperature rise not included. Keep ambient + self-heating under 125 °C |
| Size | 3.0 ± 0.2 × 3.0 ± 0.2 × 0.9 ± 0.1 mm (1212 / 3030), 1.0 mm max | — |
| Shield | Magnetic resin | — |
The definitions matter as much as the values. A "500 mA" Isat at a 30 % drop is not the same as a "500 mA" Isat at a 10 % drop.
Step 2: candidates, compared like for like

| Parameter | Murata LQH3NPN100MJR# | Coilcraft XFL3012-103ME_ | Bourns SRN3015-100M |
|---|---|---|---|
| Status (per maker) | In production | Listed in current datasheet | Listed in datasheet (REV. 06/19) |
| L, tolerance | 10 µH ±20 % @ 1 MHz | 10 µH ±20 % @ 1 MHz, 0.1 Vrms, 0 Adc | 10 µH ±20 % @ 0.1 V / 1 MHz |
| Isat | 810 mA (L within ±30 %) | 0.50 A @ 10 % drop · 0.65 A @ 20 % · 0.74 A @ 30 % | 0.88 A (30 % drop) |
| Temperature-rise current | 1,200 mA (40 °C rise, ≤85 °C ambient). 530 mA at 105 °C | 0.90 A (20 °C rise) · 1.2 A (40 °C rise) | 1.00 A (40 °C rise) |
| DCR | 0.24 Ω ±20 % (0.288 Ω max) | 0.255 Ω nom, 0.306 Ω max | 0.276 Ω max |
| SRF | 30 MHz min | 34.6 MHz typ | 45 MHz typ |
| Size | 3.0 × 3.0 × 1.1 ± 0.1 mm (1.2 mm max) | 3 × 3 mm footprint, 1.3 mm max | 3.0 ± 0.1 × 3.0 ± 0.1 mm, 1.5 mm max |
| Shield | Magnetic resin | Shielded, composite core | **Semi-shielded**, ferrite core, magnetic epoxy coating |
| Temperature | −40 to 125 °C | −40 to +85 °C ambient with 40 °C-rise Irms. Max part temp +125 °C | −40 to +125 °C (temperature rise included) |
Step 3: read the table the right way
- **Isat at the original's definition (30 % drop):** LQH3NPN100MJR 810 mA, XFL3012 0.74 A, SRN3015 0.88 A, against the original's 500 mA. All exceed it. At a stricter 10 % drop, XFL3012 is 0.50 A, the same as the original's 30 % figure.
- **Thermal current:** compare at the same rise. At 40 °C rise: 1,200 mA / 1.2 A / 1.00 A against 630 mA. Coilcraft and Murata both note that temperature rise depends on board layout. Verify on your PCB.
- **DCR:** all three are under half the original's 0.57 Ω. That means lower loss, but in some regulators lower DCR also changes current-sense or damping behaviour. Check whether your design relied on it.
- **Height is the main mechanical risk:** the original is 1.0 mm max. The candidates are 1.2 / 1.3 / 1.5 mm max. Check enclosure and shield-can clearance.
- **Footprint:** same 3 × 3 mm body, but compare each maker's recommended land pattern against your existing pads before you call it pin-compatible.
- **Shielding:** a semi-shielded part (SRN3015) can radiate more field than a resin-shielded one. Review placement near sensitive nodes.
- **Tolerance:** the original is ±30 %. The candidates are ±20 %. Tighter is usually fine, but check loop compensation with the new L.
Step 4: what to verify before release
1. Peak inductor current in your converter (including startup and load steps) against Isat at the drop your design tolerates.
2. RMS current and ambient temperature against the thermal rating (note Murata's 105 °C derating to 530 mA).
3. Height, land pattern, and EMI with the new shield type.
4. Bench test: ripple, efficiency, temperature rise, loop stability.
What to send in an RFQ
- Original MPN (LQH3NPN100NG0L or -K) and reel preference
- Whether original old-stock only, Murata's alternative only, or any qualified candidate
- Max height, switching frequency, peak/RMS current, ambient temperature
- Quantity, date-code limits, traceability requirements (CoC). Parts discontinued since 2018 come only from remaining inventory, so ask for traceability
